Trish Clowes Quintet featuring Gwilym Simcock

Currently a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, Shropshire-born saxophonist and composer Trish Clowes' music explores a fascinating hinterland between jazz and contemporary classical music, combining fluent improvisation with languid, evocative melodic lines and shifting textures.

In January, Clowes took to the stage at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival with Mercury Prize-nominated pianist Gwilym Simcock and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, who performed the live premiere of her composition ‘Sketch’. It is with her Quintet, again featuring Simcock on piano, as well as Chris Montague on guitar, Calum Gourlay on bass and James Maddren on drums, that Clowes will perform in the beautiful environs of Brecon Cathedral.
